To the Citizens of Vance County:

Thursday, May 7, 2020, is National Day of Prayer. As you know due to COVID-19, we are not able to gather in groups to pray together, but we can still pray! I would like to encourage you to do just that because God honors prayer, and it is a one of our fundamental rights and privileges.

As stated by Dion Elmore of the National Day of Prayer Task Force: “This year’s theme, ‘Pray God’s Glory Across the Earth,’ is based on Habakkuk 2:14, and reminds us that this promise, ‘for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.’ is for us today.” On next Thursday, May 7th please take time to pray for Vance County and our nation in the following areas: Church, Government, Family, Education, Business, Military, and Media. Perhaps you would like to do more. You can do so by driving to a school, business, governmental building, church, etc. to sit in your car in the parking lot and pray.

WIZS will be airing 2 special programs on Thursday, May 7th. A prayer event will be aired at 12 noon. During this event, prayers and comments will be given by local pastors and leaders at Maria Parham Health, Henderson City Hall, ACTS, and Vance County Courthouse. An evening prayer program will be aired at 7:00 pm. Prominent Vance County leaders will be speaking and praying along with special music. I encourage you to listen to these important broadcasts.

“Unprecedented times call for unprecedented prayer! This year’s ‘virtual’ National Day of Prayer observance may have more prayer – and more ‘pray-ers’ than ever before!” Kathy Branzell (National Day of Prayer [NDP] Task Force President) Will you, the citizens of Vance County, participate and unite with us in prayer for our community, our country, and our leaders?

Calling Vance County to prayer,

Pastor Frank Sossamon
